એમની પરિસ્થિતિ જોઈ માપીને
નક્કી કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરું છું
કે મારે એમને ઓકસિજન
આપવો કે નહીં
નાઈટ્રસ ઓકસાઈડ હેલોથેન
અને પેથિડિન
એમને માપસર આપું છું
ફરી ફરીને એમની નાડ તપાસું છું
માપું છું બ્લડપ્રેશર
ડાબા હાથની નસમાં
હું સેલાઈન આપું છું
જો અનિવાર્ય હોય તો
એમના જમણા હાથે લોહી ચઢાવું છું
આમ ને આમ વીતી જાય છે
સાંજ પહેલાંનો સમય
સાંજના જો હું શહેરમાં
એકાદ આંટો ન મારું
તો મને વિષાદ ઘેરી વળે છે
સાંજે સંગીત સાંભળું છું
અથવા નિંદાકૂથલીમાં પડું છું
અથવા મારા રૂમમાં એકલી
અભ્યાસ કરું છું
મધ્યરાત્રિએ મારી શૈયામાં
હું પડું છું સાવ એકલી
હું ઝંખું છું કે કોઈક હાથ આવે
અને મારા ચહેરાને સહેજ ઊંચકે
અને એના બે હોઠ મારા હોઠને ચૂમે
ઉત્કટ ચુંબન વિના મારી રાત કદી
ઊગતી નથી.”

તસલીમાનું સાહિત્ય ગુજરાતીમાં ઊતરતું રહેવું જોઇએ. ગુજરાતી વાચકોએ આ વિદ્રોહી લેખિકાને સમજવા માટે એ જરૂરી છે.
